Jeans, paper, coins

The word jeans comes from the French phrase bleu de Gênes, literally blue of Genoa. These trousers were sold through the harbour of Genoa, which was an important naval and trading power. The Genoese Navy required all-purpose trousers, for its sailors, that could be worn while swabbing the deck: the denim material met this need. The zip on the canvas serves as a window that sets a strong mark of the change of customs through time: nowadays, jeans are worn to many types of venues and events, even some events that ostensibly require formal attire. Some jeans styles can be extremely expensive. Today this item is the new muse of the fashion industry.
