‘Italian Energy’ has been conceived for the contemporary art contest, Premio Terna 03, with the theme “150 years of Italian unification: vision, origin, power and energy through the generations.” A dynamo stands in the middle of the canvas, every string and valve becomes pure energy irradiating the painting with a variety of lights that create a confetti dance through the colours of the Italian flag. These latter are made with money, symbol of an economic strength, that nevertheless does not pertain to the mere materialistic meaning: the coins, each of a different nationality, incarnate the numerous stories and cultures that, united, establish the power of Italy. Thus, this country becomes generator of an energy projected all over the globe through the potential of the upcoming generations.
